Alexander Klonick

Manager, Education & Engagement

Alex is a manager with the Renewables Energy Buyers Alliance based in Boulder. He began working with REBA while on the Business Renewables Center team as an intern during the summer of 2016 where he focused on developing the market analysis platform. Most recently he has been administering the member portal, tracking and maintaining the deal database, managing the boot camp series, and assisting with the development of multiple initiatives including REBA’s Supply Chain program, RMI’s Cities Renewables Accelerator, and Pembina Institute’s BRC Canada. Alex is passionate about opening new markets and scaling impact by developing digital resources that streamline decision making and build community.

Alex joined REBA from Rocky Mountain Institute’s Business Renewables Center. Prior to RMI, he worked at a vehicle telematics startup company, consulted on the development of an online water conservation tool for agricultural stakeholders, taught English as a second language, and volunteered on an Engineer’s Without Borders project in Panama. Beyond energy, he has applied his skills to co-found the North American Coalition for Insect Agriculture. The group is working to establish the nascent industries related to insects as feed and food by organizing the varied interests and resources. He is especially excited by the potential of the feed industry to address two significant ecological issues, food waste and over-fishing.

Alex graduated from Duke University with a master’s degree in Environmental Management with a concentration in economics and policy. He also earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. In his spare time, you can find him designing a tiny home, cooking, tinkering, or exploring the vast rich outdoor experiences Colorado has to offer.
